    Loft Conversions

    Types of Loft Conversions

    Flat Roof Dormer

Without doubt our most popular Loft conversion style, particularly in Loft spaces with low headroom.

It involves the process of building out vertically from the existing roof of the property. This often allows for a master bedroom with an En-suite/ bathroom in most cases.

The Dormer allows you to access far more potential of the Loft space than a VELUX only conversion., making it extremely good value for money when you consider the space gained.

All of our Flat roof Dormers come with an EPDM Rubber roof with our 15 year flat roof guarantee.

In most cases Flat roof Dormers do not require planning when at the rear of the property.

    Pitched Roof Dormer

If you are considering front roof dormers these will require planning. This is quite common in conservation areas to keep the conversion in keeping.

They offer less space than a flat roof Dormer , but what they lack in space they more than make up in aesthetics.

They are by far the most pleasing conversion on the eye.

    Hip To Gable Loft Conversions

Particularly popular on semi detached properties with hipped roofs, mainly end terraced houses or bungalows.

It involves the process of extending the ridgeline out to the gable end of the property, then building up the gable end.

In most cases these are partnered with a large flat roof dormer to the rear.

While these are one of the largest conversion styles in terms of construction, the result speaks for itself, unlocking on average 75% of the properties available floor space. Creating a large master bedroom with en-suite bathroom.

Hip to gables are possible under permitted development they are always very near to the 50m3 limit for permitted development. We supply as standard an application for certificate of lawfulness; this grants a certificate from planning saying that the loft doesn’t need planning.

    Velux Loft Conversions

VELUX are a Danish Company, that have been manufacturing for over 75 years.

Unlike a traditional window that loses some of the available light on offer, these capitalize on the natural light available and flood the darkest rooms with plenty of natural light.

VELUX  loft conversions involve little alteration to the existing roof other than adding strength and picking up loading where required.
In most cases, a VELUX conversion is the most cost effective style of Loft conversion.

They generally do not need planning permission as they benefit from Permitted development rights and involve no visible alterations to the roof structure.

VELUX also offer an extensive range of blackout and shutter blinds.
